Why was the FITU-Peronism interbloc made?

From New Socialist Workers Party of Argentina
After a month of silence, the FITU groups finally acknowledged that they made a parliamentary agreement with Peronism in Congress. Under a sea of repudiation, criticism, and a resounding rejection of activism, the FITU finally recognized that during the months of April and May 2025 the "FITU-National and Popular" interbloc functioned. And he also announced that, after a month, the agreement ceased to exist. Most of the activists, leaders, and sympathizers of the left knew about the agreements of the FITU with Peronism as a result of the denunciation that we made from the New PST, from this same website. The leaders of the FITU shamefully concealed the agreement made with Peronism.
Why was this agreement made in Congress? In the articles where they finally recognize that they formed an interbloc with Peronism, the groups that make up the FITU say that they did so because "it is an obligation to fight the parliamentary battle," that these agreements allowed them to have a representative in the Investigative Commission of the $Libra scam "that corresponded to them," and that they did so "maintaining political independence". We are then going to take stock of the "FITU-National and Popular" interbloc by asking the following questions:
With the formation of the Interbloc, did the FITU give a "parliamentary battle", or did it join the parliamentary circus of the government and Peronism? Should the FITU be a member of that Commission, or should it repudiate and denounce it? Was it "appropriate" to have a member there or should he denounce the corrupt mechanisms of integration of the commission? When he joined the commission agreeing on an Interbloc with Peronism, did he maintain "political independence", or did he join the strategy of Peronism? We are going to answer these questions in this article, and we add another: Why did all the leftist groups remain silent about the existence of the "FITU-National and Popular" interbloc?
A murky agreement to defend bourgeois institutions
For those who do not know what this event consisted of, we make a brief summary: Peronism proposed the formation of a parliamentary commission to investigate the $Libra case, the cryptocurrency scam that Milei publicly promoted. But this call established all kinds of shady mechanisms for the formation of the Commission, such as the integration of Interblocs to add more members and guarantee a presence of the ruling party. This manoeuvre was aimed at reducing the Commission to a pantomime that simulates "investigating" so that, in the end, nothing is investigated.
That is to say, the Commission is made to "save" Milei, it is a shady agreement to defend bourgeois institutions, a role that logically corresponds to the powers of the capitalist state. This is something that any Marxist militant can know with just a basic course in Marxism. The leaders of the FITU were to denounce the Commission and its fraudulent mechanisms and present it as a "Commission for Impunity", refusing, in turn, to join it in order to delegitimize it.
But instead of denouncing the Commission and its mechanisms, they decided to join it and adopt its shady mechanisms, sowing illusions that this body was good for something. By stating that it was "their duty" to have a place on the Commission, they consider all these spurious and murky mechanisms valid. To justify this policy of support for bourgeois institutions, they went so far as to say that the composition of the Commission "worries the government." Something completely false, since this PJ maneuver did not have any in order to "overturn" the Milei government, far from it, it was rather a mechanism of pressure towards it. A kind of "exchange" where the ruling party is he pledges not to go to the bottom with the "clean sheet" law, while the opposition, for its part, excludes Karina Milei from the investigation. This is nothing new, it is part of the general policy of Peronism-Kirchnerism, the union bureaucracy and the 99% of the left of supporting the government until it leads to an electoral solution. Something that, from the New PST, we have been denouncing from the beginning.
The policy that the FITU carried out in the interbloc "FITU-National and Popular", was to sow expectations in the bourgeois Parliament. Policy that has been developing for years when, for example, it votes on laws of the Peronism, calls for the settlement of candidacies in the PASO, or formulates slogans in the electoral campaigns such as: "To confront the right, give it strength to the left." With this "parliamentarian" policy and completely far from the struggles, the FITU poses to the working class that the task of fundamental is to "balance forces" in the bourgeois parliament, a whole social democratic policy, of support for the institutions of the Dominant.
Abandonment of class independence
The parties that make up the FITU defend that they joined the Commission $Libra maintaining "political independence". But is the strategy of forming and giving legitimacy to that Commission a strategy of "independence" or is it a strategy of the bourgeois parties and Peronism?"
No institution, organism, mechanism, laws, or regulations coming from the institutions of bourgeois democracy are independent of the bourgeoisie. All these parliamentary mechanisms belong to the ruling classes, and at the service of their interests. From the bench he occupies, the task that corresponds to every Marxist parliamentarian is the permanent and systematic denunciation of all these mechanisms. That is to wage the "parliamentary battle".
But to occupy a seat to adopt the mechanisms of the bourgeois organizations is to refuse to wage the parliamentary battle, and to surrender class independence. The strategy of integrating the $Libra Commission, and using its murky mechanisms of formation, was that of Peronism and all the capitalist parties. By joining this body, the FITU joined the strategy of the bourgeois parties and sought to legitimize it. Moreover, the FITU, once incorporated into the Commission, voted for it to be chaired by the Peronist deputy Sabrina Selva.
The policy of the FITU with respect to the $Libra Commission was, in short, to adopt the policy of the employers' parties to integrate the commission, to adopt the shady mechanisms of the employers' parties to form the commission, and, once integrated into it, to support a bosses' leader to preside over it. Nowhere. The FITU agreed with Peronism to be part of the deceitful circus of the bourgeois parties to defend the institutions of the ruling classes, and give legitimacy to their false and shady maneuvers. In this way they deceive the working class by sowing hopes in the rotten bourgeois institutions.
A complicit silence of the entire Argentine left
Why did all the leftist groups remain silent about the existence of the "FITU-National and Popular" interbloc? Faced with a political agreement that was made public through the media of the bourgeoisie, except for the honorable exception of Política Obrera that publicly repudiated the agreement, the other groups of the left made a resounding silence and never pronounced themselves on the agreement of the FITU with Peronism.
What do groups like IS or the MST think that, being part of the FITU, have not said a word about the issue? And the other groups? What does the LIT or groups like the Nuevo MAS think? Did you not take cognizance of the matter, or did you become aware, but have you decided to remain silent? And if so: What is the reason for the silence of these groups? The explanation is simple: The groups are silent because they generally agree with what the FITU did, and if they were in their place, they would do exactly the same.
That is to say, the course of adaptation to the political regime and capitulation to Peronism is part of the Argentine left, as well as part of the process of crisis of the world left. This process of adaptation and consolidation as social democratic groups is a joint one, with the FITU perhaps being its crudest and most visible expression. This is the reason why, in the face of the electoral collapse of the capitalist parties, and especially of Peronism, the FITU does not appear as an alternative and collapses along with them.
Regarding the electoral collapse of the FITU, which accompanies its theoretical, political and organic collapse, although it is more visible now, it is not a new fact. We have been analyzing and denouncing this in various articles (which you can read here). We will take a closer look at the development of this crisis in 2025 later. Here it can only be pointed out that the capitulation of the FITU with the formation of the interbloc "FITU-National and Popular" is not a minor fact, although for many comrades it goes unnoticed, the reality is that betrayals, crouches and capitulations are paid.
By way of balance we have to say that, with the incorporation of the "FITU-National and Popular" interbloc, the FITU has gone down in history as the first force that claims to be Trotskyist in Argentina, which has formed a bloc in the national parliament with employers' forces. This "milestone" makes it clear that these groups are not useful to fight for a revolutionary solution in our country. Some of these groups are driving international groupings, which are now tainted by this capitulation. From this balance we invite you, from the New PST, to advance in the construction of a revolutionary organization, which defends the principles of Marxism, orthodox Trotskyism, to overcome the crisis of the left by fighting for a new leadership of the workers' and people's movement, and a workers' and people's government.
