Successful International Conference for Palestine

On July 26, 2025, the International Conference for Palestine was held, attended by comrades from Venezuela, France, India, Mexico, Canada, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Panama, Brazil, Ecuador, Chile, and Argentina: "We are here to support a revolution" was the forceful definition with which the Marx International began the report given at the beginning of the successful International Conference.
The Conference established the need to support the Palestinian Intifada, a global revolutionary process comprised of the link between the struggle of the Palestinian people, the resistance of Palestinian militias, and a colossal and historic mobilization of support for Palestine taking place throughout the world. This massive global mobilization, spanning five continents, is one of the most significant in history, and today surpasses in magnitude and global reach the mobilizations in Vietnam in the 1970s or the mobilizations in Iraq at the beginning of the 21st century.
The union between the struggle of the Palestinian people and the global mobilization for Palestine has unleashed the largest revolutionary mobilization, one that is anti-capitalist because it goes against imperialism, NATO, and the genocidal state of Israel, the main support device for capitalism in the Middle East. We speak of a Third Intifada because there was already a First Intifada in 1987, a Second Intifada in 2000, and the current global movement is a Third Intifada. The Conference also established that this Intifada is not only the union of the Palestinian people with the global mobilization for Palestine, but is also the interconnected union between the struggle of the Palestinian people and other revolutions developing in the Middle East.
Examples of these revolutions include the revolution in Yemen, led by the Houthi indigenous people, the revolution in Syria that defeated Bashar al-Assad's dictatorship just eight months ago, the revolution in Lebanon, and the Kurdish revolution in Rojava, northern Syria, also led by Kurdish indigenous guerrillas, among others. Precisely this unity and connection between the revolutions in the Middle East and the Palestinian revolution constitute the Second Arab Spring for the region.
The so-called "Arab Spring" was a revolutionary process that took place between 2011 and 2016, which crossed 32 countries in the Middle East region, putting an end to many dictatorships and forever changing the geography of the entire region, liberating nations and indigenous peoples. However, starting in 2019-2020, a Second Arab Spring began. Unlike the first, its main characteristic is that it goes against Islamic fundamentalism, the political movement that has emerged as the leader of the peoples of the Middle East over the past 45 years. Part of this Second Arab Spring were the revolution in Lebanon against the coalition government with Hezbollah, the revolution in Iraq against the pro-Iran government, and in 2020, the revolution following the death of activist Masha Amini, which began to question the dictatorship of the capitalist oligarchy of the Ayatollahs that govern Iran and lead the Islamic fundamentalist movement in the region.
In fact, when the Syrian revolution broke out, Islamic fundamentalism split: One sector, led by Hezbollah, supported Bashar al-Assad's dictatorship, while another, led by the Palestinian Hamas militia, supported the people's revolution against the dictatorship. The fractures and crises of the Islamic fundamentalist movement in the Middle East that characterized the Second Arab Spring were expressed in Palestine in the 2021 revolution in Jerusalem by Palestinians living within Israel and the occupied West Bank, which triggered the Third Intifada of the Palestinian people, which later transformed into open civil war in Gaza.
Imperialist governments call for "Peace" : The trap of pacifism
The existence of the Third Intifada demonstrates that there is no peaceful solution to the Palestinian problem. The policy of systematic genocide against the civilian population perpetrated by Benjamin Netanyahu's government seeks to halt the Intifada, attempting to break the resistance of the Palestinian people. It also underscores that it is a Nazi state that has practiced methods of civil war against the Palestinians and Arab peoples for decades. Now the imperialist governments of Great Britain, France, Canada, and Germany are calling for "peace" and an end to the genocide, speaking of a Palestinian state. China and Russia, members of the UN Security Council, have joined this call.
Those who raise the slogan of " Peace" are lying to the people. What do those who raise the pacifist slogan propose? Who will bring peace to Palestine? The UN? Donald Trump? Netanyahu? The European imperialist governments? The EU? It is impossible to achieve peace under the aegis of the governments or institutions that sustain global imperialist capitalism. The demand for peace, for the slogan of peace, is profoundly reactionary because it implies believing that peace is possible under the leadership of profoundly reactionary organizations such as the European Union, the government of Donald Trump, the imperialist government of Macron, the imperialist government of Keir Starmer, or the imperialist government of Merz in Germany. All these governments and organizations are financing Israel and supplying it with weapons; no "peace" will come from them .
Furthermore, the "Peace" policy implies the "Two-State" policy. The "Two-State" policy implies the recognition of the State of Israel, the coexistence of the State of Israel and a Palestinian state, a policy that failed precisely because the existence of a Nazi state like the State of Israel makes peaceful coexistence between the State of Israel and the Arabs or Palestinians impossible. The true and real way to achieve peace is to have a Palestinian state, as the slogan "from the river to the sea" proposes. The pacifist policy of all these capitalist governments that promote the two-state policy implies the recognition of the State of Israel and thus the recognition of a genocidal Nazi state in the Middle East.
Nor should we place any hopes in the capitalist governments of the Arab bourgeoisies, such as those of Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon, which have pursued a policy of not supporting the Third Intifada, allowing the State of Israel to act genocidally and continue to carry out its genocidal policies. We should not have any hopes in these sectors of the Arab bourgeois governments; they are not in favor of the Palestinian people, precisely because of the anti-capitalist nature of the Third Intifada, which challenges the ruling classes of the Arab countries. Nor can we place any hopes or expectations in capitalist governments of poor countries, such as Lula Petro or Claudia Scheinbaum, who claim to support Palestine but do not lift a finger to support the Third Intifada.
For the military victory of the Palestinian militias and the 3rd Intifada
The Conference was clear in its rejection of the utopia of peace politics, a reactionary utopia to defend Israel's existence. In that sense, we are not pacifists, we are not for peace; the only way to achieve peace is through the triumph of the Palestinian militias, regardless of any differences we may have with the leaders of these guerrilla movements or armed partisans. Is it utopian to propose the destruction of the State of Israel? No. Because Israel is a state in decay. Since the beginning of the third intifada, around half a million Israelis have fled the country, and half a million have had to be relocated, while Israel's economy is in collapse.
Israel is in a state of collapse. Capitalist companies are not investing in Israel because they are withdrawing their capital due to the pressure of the mobilizations in imperialist countries demanding that multinationals divest from Israeli companies, which has unleashed a capital flight. Israeli state bonds are considered junk bonds; no one buys them, no one wants them. In conclusion, Israel is in the process of destruction, and this process of destruction is what we must continue until the State of Israel disappears. Its rulers and officials have been considered war criminals by The Hague court. They suffer worldwide repudiation. Wherever they go, Israeli officials and rulers are repudiated and booed, and they are practically unable to go anywhere in the world. Israel is a hated and repudiated state globally, and it is considered the South Africa of the 21st century, which in the 20th century was a nation repudiated for its apartheid policy toward the black population.
If we can't rely on any capitalist government to carry on the struggle and the third intifada, what can we rely on to continue the third intifada? We rely on the thousands of activists around the world who are carrying out the struggle for Palestine. There is a surge of thousands of activists on five continents, an independent movement that constantly carries out actions in support of Palestine and leads mass mobilizations in support of the intifada.
It is this activism that has raised two crucial slogans that we, from the International Conference, have adopted as our own: On the one hand, the slogan "For a free Palestine from the river to the sea," and on the other, the slogan that emerged this European summer: "Death to the Israeli armed forces." These slogans reflect global activism's tendency toward Marxism because they propose the destruction of the State of Israel, of a secular, democratic, and non-racist Palestinian state. At the same time, they are slogans that break with pacifism and demonstrate a tendency toward Marxism because they propose the way out of the military triumph of the Palestine guerrillas, as we Marxists have been proposing.
The International Conference expressed support for the Palestine Action collective in Great Britain, which is being persecuted by the state, the justice system, and the government. From Pakistan, Comrade Vaqqaz Fayaz, a member of the Asia Commune, stated that the framework for the Palestinian people's revolution is the crisis of capitalism and the actions of imperialism and imperialist governments. Jesus Valdez of La Marx Mexico stated that the genocide committed by Israel is unprecedented, and that international unity is important to develop the struggle on behalf of the Palestinian people. From Paris, Comrade Don Samantha stated that the situation in the Middle East and the world is reminiscent of the political situation that developed in Russia in 1917, a situation prior to the Russian Revolution.
Silvia Morales from Argentina argued that Stalinism played a nefarious role in the emergence of the State of Israel, and that an entire sector of the global left is pacifist and its policies serve the interests of imperialism and Israel. Jose Angel Garrido Pérez of the Committee for Palestine of Panama argued that there are differences between the revolutionary process developing in Gaza, where there is more influence from Islamic fundamentalist movements, and in the West Bank, where there is a stronger tradition of secularism and secular militias. Pedro from Río Gallegos stated that the struggle for a workers' and popular government in Palestine should be made manifest. Hernan Corbalan from Brazil argued that the slogan "weapons for the Palestinian resistance" is very important as a reference to the popular arming of the Palestinian people.
Gilberto and Domingo from Venezuela greeted and spoke at the conference, highlighting the importance of the Palestinian issue in the country's activism. Jose de Córdoba from Argentina proposed amending the program of struggle that included the slogan "Death to the IDF." Nélida from the San Luis Palestine Committee in Argentina raised the need to coordinate the activities of the various committees for Palestine around the world. Greta Roquero and Gustavo Martínez from the New PST in Argentina emphasized the importance of the conference, the interventions, and their content. Some comrades raised doubts about whether the governments of China or Russia could take sides with Palestine. At the Conference, we made it perfectly clear that we cannot place any expectations on either the dictatorship of Xi Jinping and the Chinese Communist Party, or the dictatorship of Vladimir Putin and the United Russia party, who have not lifted a finger to defend the Palestinian people while a genocide is unfolding in Gaza. On the contrary, both Xi Jinping and Putin defend the business dealings and agreements they have with Israel, due to their nature as defenders of capitalism.
All the political interventions at the Conference strengthened the event, strengthened its content, and deepened the political elaboration of the Palestinian question. Thus, after several hours of deliberations, the Conference concluded successfully, strengthening the perspective of working together and advancing both those who are members of the Marx International and those who are not. It also allowed for the connection of new comrades from different countries who are developing valuable experiences. The entire Conference culminated with a commitment to support the Palestinian Intifada and the adoption of resolutions to carry it forward together, which signifies a further strengthening of Marxists on a global scale.
