Julian Free ! A global democratic triumph!

The High Court in London has released Wikileaks founder Julian Assange on bail on Monday. Julian is the most important political prisoner in the world, and his freedom is an extraordinary global democratic triumph that opens the doors to fight for the freedom of all political prisoners in the world such as Sergio Andrés Pastor González, better known as 19 in Colombia, the political prisoners of the Front Line in Chile and Colombia, the political prisoners in Hong Kong, Palestinian political prisoners, and all political prisoners in the world.
The huge worldwide campaign driven by millions for their freedom, and the global mobilization against capitalism that includes the millions mobilizing for Palestine around the world, and especially in the United States, made it possible for Julian to be Free, which is one of the most important triumphs against imperialism. capitalism, of the twenty-first century.
Imperialism backed down in its attempt to sentence Julian Assange to 150 years in prison. The officials of the United States government, frightened by the current process of mobilization of millions in favor of Palestine in the United States, did not want to add fuel to the fire of the mobilization by bringing the most famous political prisoner in the world to the territory of the United States to stand trial. Julian's arrival in the United States, extradited to stand trial for espionage, would have unleashed a worldwide mobilization, and especially in the United States. massive and forceful that would have provoked an even more serious crisis in the American political regime. The current mass mobilization, and the worldwide campaign of millions for Julian forced imperialism to offer Julian a negotiation.
After spending more than five years, a total of 1,901 days incarcerated in a maximum security prison in Belmarsh, Julian and his family reached an agreement with the US Department of Justice to plead guilty in exchange for a sentence of 62 months in prison, which is equivalent to the time he has spent incarcerated in the United Kingdom, which automatically releases Julian because he has already served that sentence. With this negotiation, Julian was acquitted of the 18 criminal charges with which they tried to sentence him to 175 years in prison.
Marxists Defended the World's Most Important Political Prisoner
Julian Assange became the most important political prisoner of the 21st century for defending democratic freedoms and civil rights that were under threat around the world during the Bush administration between 2001-2009. After the attack on the World Trade Center in New York and the fall of the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001, the Bush Administration took advantage of the global "shock" caused by events to launch a "global war on terror," a global political, economic, and military counteroffensive against the workers and peoples of the world.
This counteroffensive was part of the strategy of the "Project for a New American Century" (PNAC), which stated that the world's great problem was "terrorism", coming from an "axis of evil" made up of Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Cuba, Libya, and Syria that had "Weapons of Mass Destruction" (WMD). The PNAC established a major military operation to invade Iraq to prepare a war of vast scope and long duration, with the aim of disciplining the workers and peoples of the world, seeking to overcome the serious crisis opened in capitalism in the year 2000 with the bursting of the "punto.com" bubble.
The objective of imperialism was to carry out a burning of capital that would allow the crisis to be overcome, but it was impossible for the Bush Administration to carry out this strategy with the opposition of the American people. To muzzle the people of the United States, the PNAC's strategy included the constitution of a repressive regime: the Patriot Act regime, a profoundly undemocratic regime within the United States. The U.S. government that sought to limit the democratic freedoms of the U.S. people To silence any voice that wanted to oppose it. A de facto constitutional reform put the executive branch, the military, and the security services at the center of the U.S. political regime. trying to erase with a stroke of the pen the historic democratic conquests of the American people, seeking to install the closest thing to a military dictatorship.
Julian Assange, visible head of the global opposition to the PNAC
Julian Assange is an Australian hacker and programmer who in 2006 founded the WikiLeaks website from where he denounced the PNAC, the laws and decrees that attacked immigrants, criminalized opponents by branding them as "terrorists", denounced the "anti-terrorism laws", showed the war crimes of the NATO in the Middle East under the auspices of the UN against the peoples of the region. Julian exposed the horror that imperialism carried out with laws such as the Authorization for Use of Force (AUMF), the creation of military courts, the creation of the "Department of Homeland Security" (HS) and the thousands of innocent prisoners imprisoned in the "Black Sites".
Julian denounced the use of torture, and the massive espionage that the NSA (National Security Agency) established through the tapping of the phones and internet accounts of presidents, legislators, judges, citizens, organizations social, political, etc. that were intervened with the excuse of "detecting terrorists" violating all guarantees and civil rights throughout the world. For having been one of the visible heads of the opposition to the PNAC, Julian tried to be criminalized with a sentence of 175 years.
But now, the global mobilization has imposed his freedom that he achieved on June 26, 2024 when he returned to Australia after long hours of flight, and presented his declaration in the Mariana Islands, considered a territory of the United States as a result of a very long and complex negotiation with the U.S. government. He finally arrived in Australia where he was received by the Prime Minister. Julian sacrificed his own freedom for so many years and that situation ended because now he is back in Australia, together with his partner Stella, his children, and his family.
From La Marx International we are proud to have been part of the worldwide struggle for Julian's Freedom. The attitude of a sector of the world left that refused to fight for Julian's Freedom has been regrettable, a policy of betrayal of the struggle for democratic rights that they will pay dearly. Julian's freedom, and that he remains with his family is an extraordinary triumph that we must take advantage of to continue fighting for civil liberties, the democratic freedoms carried forward by capitalism, and imperialism, on the path of the struggle for Global Socialism.
