Death to the IDF!: The cry of support for Palestine that is spreading around the world

A new rallying cry from the Palestinian Intifada is sweeping the world: "Death to the IDF!" (IDF, in English "Israel Defense Forces" ). This slogan emerged at the Glanstonbury Music Festival in England on the weekend of June 29th and 30th, when the English punk-rap duo Bob Vylan performed. The group, made up of Bobby Vylan and Bobbie Vylan, stage names they use to protect themselves because they are activists, took the stage and chanted, along with more than 30,000 people holding dozens of Palestinian flags, the slogan "Death , death at the IDF! "
The slogan resonated across the globe in a matter of minutes. The hashtag #DDTTIDF quickly emerged , and the slogan became widespread around the world, with thousands of people sharing it virally on social media. Members of Bob Vylan argued on stage that DDTTIDF was necessary to achieve a "free Palestine from the river to the sea ," horrifying imperialist officials and rulers around the world.
The event organizers said they were "horrified." British Prime Minister Keir Starmer of the Labour Party condemned the band for using what he called "appalling hate speech." The BBC said Monday that the broadcaster should have cut off the live broadcast of the concert in response to Bob Vylan's performance. Officials at Britain's Federal Communications Commission (Ofcom) said that "the BBC has questions to answer." Police said they have launched a criminal investigation to determine whether the band's comments constitute a criminal offense, although "At this stage, this has been recorded as a public order incident ." The Israeli embassy said it was "deeply disturbed" by the chants of "death to the IDF" at Glastonbury.
The band was scheduled to headline the Radar Festival in Manchester, but was also pulled from the French festival Kave Fest, the Cologne venue, and Live Music Hall in Germany. Despite the cancellations, the band gained international notoriety for their performance, which resonated globally.
A global slogan that goes against reformist pacifism
The punk-rap duo had a US tour scheduled to begin in October in Spokane, Washington, with stops in cities like Seattle, Chicago, Boston, New York, Atlanta, Dallas, and Los Angeles, but the US government revoked the visas of British band Bob Vylan. Why did this cascade of cancellations, visa revocations, censorship, etc. occur, and why are imperialist governments so horrified?
Because it is a revolutionary slogan that calls for the destruction of the Israeli armed forces, a slogan more advanced than the slogans of reformism toward Palestine, such as "Ceasefire," "Peace," or "Enough Genocide." These are slogans that call for the military defeat of the Zionist army and the military triumph of the Palestinian militias and partisans in Gaza and the West Bank. There is no other way to "kill" the IDF. They express the program of the destruction of the Nazi state of Israel. The fact that thousands of people sing them in open-air concerts across Europe reflects the radicalization of activism and the shift to the left among sectors of the masses.
These slogans also express the political revolution against the old reformist leaderships and allow for the emergence of activism with a more advanced consciousness. The slogans "From the River to the Sea" and " DD/T/T /IDF are slogans that place this global activism closer to Marxism, it has hit hard, and it has gone viral globally. From the Marx International, we raise our fists alongside Bob Vylan and the thousands of young people in England, Europe, and around the world who support Palestine until Zionism and imperialism are defeated and global socialism is established.
Live the 3rd Intifada!
DDTTIDF!
For a free Palestine from the river to the sea!
